Policy Claim: KPS needs to take their time on planning budgets and building new facilities so that they don’t have to make renovations, repairs, and add ons to brand new facilities and ending up spending more money.
Claims:
- The new KHS was completed in two years, with multiple issues that caused more spending
- Parking lot concrete was done incorrectly, leading to construction crews having to re-do a majority of the lot
- KHS was completed in 2016, and two years later is already seeking funding for a 7,295 sq. foot addition for more classrooms
- The school needed equipment for athletics that they ran out of money for in the budget, had to do a fundraiser, and still fell $200,000 short
- The school keeps asking for more tax support to fund many of the issues in the school system

You have a solid policy claim, as this happens to most high schools. However, I have a few questions regarding supporting claims. How much did the initial school cost to build? What are the KHS issues resulting in asking for more funding? Why do they need more classrooms? How many classrooms are needed to be built?

Great issue here. Though I have to say, when you are out of room, it’s hard to hold off with building new schools. It’s also challenging when you don’t think that voters will approve as much money as is really needed.
